Description

Soil and Water Conservation

Watershed management, particularly Soil and Water Conservation (SWC), supports sustainable livelihoods through reducing environmental degradation and increasing crop production. Natural Resource Management :- Baramati Inadapur and part of Purandar, Daund, Tehsil come under rain shadow area of Sahyadri ranges in the western Maharashtra hence receive very less annual rain fall ranging from 430mm to 530 mm and these areas receives very less rain fall. Villages in these areas are totally dependent on the Natural Rains and do not have any canal Irrigation in the area. Land is undulating and the soil is light which was aggravating the condition. Crop failure due to shortage of water is common in most of the years. Even if there is Good rain fall, most of the water run off Hence Natural Resource Management for soil and water conservation is most important for sustainable crop production and for protective irrigation.
